ස්වීඩන් වල ශීත ඍතුවේ දවස් 10 ක් (10 Days of Winter in Sweden)

හිම බලන්න තිබ්බ ආසාව නිසත්, 2013 ඉදන් විස්තර අහල අහලා හිතේ මැවිලා තිබුණු දේවල් ඇත්තද බලන්න යන්න හිතුවෙ. නත්තල් දවස් ගැන ඕනෙ තරම් අහල තියෙන නිසා ඉවසිල්ලක් නැතුව හිටියෙ. කොහොම හරි නිවාඩු දාලා  flight එකත් book කරලා රොහාන් අයියට කියල නවතින්න තැනකුත් බලල දවස් ගනන් කර කර හිටියෙ. එන්න දවසකට කලින් රොහාන් අයියා කතා කරල කියනව අම්මා නැති වුණා ලංකාවට යන්න වෙනවා කියල. මං හැදුවෙ ගමන නවත්තන්න. රොහාන් අයියා කතා කරල කිව්වා ඔක්කොම ලේස්ති කරලා තියෙන්නෙ එන්න කියලා. මාත් හිතුවා කමක් නෑ ඔන්න ඔහේ යනවා කියලා. මගේ යාළුවා ජොහානා ට කතා කරලා විස්තරේ කිව්වා. එයාට විස්තරේ කියපු ගමන් අනේ එන්න මන් airport එකට එන්නම්  කියලා කිව්වා. එයා සේරම බලාගන්නම් කියලා. 

( I heard a lot of things about Sweden since 2013. So I wanted to see those things with the naked eye and the snow. I was impatient because I had heard so much about Swedish Christmas days from Johanna and Peter. After applying my leaves, I told Rohan(My colleague, boss, brother) to book a place to stay. He arranged so many things including a monitor, foods and etc. A day before I leave, suddenly Rohan called me and said that he lost his mother and need to go to Sri Lanka. Then I tried to cancel my journey. But Rohan  encouraged me to go there and enjoy the vacation as planned. Luckily, when I informed to my friend Johanna about Rohan's situation, at once, she said "Please come, I will come to the airport and will take care of everything.  So I decided to go without any hesitant.)

       

කිව්වා වගේම අම්ම කෙනෙක් පොඩි ළමයෙක් බලාගන්නවා වගේ හැමදේම හොයලා බලල කියල දීලා රොහාන් අයියාගෙ apartment  එකටම ගෙනල්ල ඇරලල, අම්ම ළමයව hostel එකට  භාර දෙනව වගේ භාර දුන්නා. අපි එදා Marsta ට වල නැවතිලා උදේ තමයි Uppsala ආවෙ. රොහාන් අයියත් ලංකාවෙ ගෑණු ළමයෙක්ට (විදුමිණිට) කියලා තිබුණා මං එනවා කියලා. එයා  ඔක්කොම විස්තර ටික කියල දුන්නා. එදාම Peter  කියලා තිබ්බ එහේ ගෙදර එන්න කියලා. මහන්සි නොබලා ඊට පස්සෙ Stockholm ගියා. 

(As Johanna promised, she took care of everything. We spent the first night at her friend's place in Marsta since my flight arrived at late night. Next day, together we went to  Rohan's apartment in Uppsala and she helped me to set up all the things in the apartment like a mother. Rohan also has informed to another Sri Lankan girl(Vidumini) who lives in the same apartment about my arrival. On the same day I had to go to Peter's(My previous boss) house for a dinner since he invited me so early. So I went back to Stockholm again in the evening.)

ටිකට් ගන්න එක නම් මහ කරදරයක්. Uppsala වලට එක  App එකයි, Stockholm වලට තව App එකකුයි. කොහොම හරි මන් අඩු ටිකට් එකක් අරන්   ගිහින් තියෙන්නෙ. හොඳ වෙලාවට Checkers ලා ආවෙ නෑ. කොහොම හරි Stockholm යද්දි රොහාන් අයියා එක්ක කෝල් එකක ඉද්දිම බහින්න ඕන තැන පහු වුණා. ආයෙ ඉතින් බැහැල අනිත් පැත්තට යන එකක නැග්ගා.  අනසුයි ජොහානායි රොහාන් අයියයි 3 දෙනාම උදව් කරා.

(Buying bus/train tickers are not convenient at all. There are different mobile apps to buy tickets for Uppsala and Stockholm. While I was on the way to Peter's house, I missed the station that I supposed to get off, even I was on call with Rohan. I got off from another station and came back to the right station. Anas(My university friend) also helped me to find correct platforms.)

කොහොම හරි Peter ලගෙ ගෙදරට ගියා. එදා රෑ කෑම එහෙන්. ගොඩක් ආගිය විස්තර  එක්කයි අනිකා එක්කයි කතා කරා. ඊළග දවසෙ උදේ ලංකාවෙ කඩයකට යන් කියලා කතා වෙලා නිදා ගත්තා. 

(Anyhow, I reached Peter's house. Peter and Anika(Peter's wife) warmly welcomed me. We discussed a lot of things and had Peter's delicious food for the dinner. Also a watched a movie at night. Peter and Anika promised me to take me to a Sri Lankan shop on next day. )

(Swedish Christmas starts with Advent. On the first Sunday that falls four weeks prior to Christmas, families light up the first advent candle on an advent wreath. The remaining three candles are lit on each subsequent Sunday. Lighting candles is also a way to make dark winter days more bearable. )

ඊළග දවසේ උදේ 11 ට විතර අපි යන්න පිටත් වුණා. ලංකාවෙ කඩේට ගිහිල්ලා පොල්, සීනි සම්බල්, කරපිංචා ගත්තා. බෑග් එක බරයි. අපේ හෙඩත් අපිත් එක්ක ගියා. යද්දි අහනවා ඔයාට ඊයෙ එද්දි පොඩ්ඩක් බහින තැන පැටලුනා නේද කියලා.. මං හිතුවෙ නෑ Live location share කරාට බලන් ඇති කියලා. ඒත් Peter කියනවා මං Call කරන්නත් හදලා ආයෙ නිකන් හිටියා නෑ එයා හොයාගෙන එයි කියලා.

(Next day, we went to the Sri Lankan shop at Stockholm and I bought coconut, Seeni sambol and curry leaves. Anika and Peter helped me to choose all the stuff. While we were coming back, Peter asked the mistake (missed the station) that I did while I was coming to his house. I thought he was not tracking me even though I shared the live location with him. Unfortunately he was tracking my location 😂. Peter said, "I thought  to call you, but then I thought you will figure it out anyway")

ඊට පස්සෙ අපි Gamla Old town එකට යමු කියලා ආවා. එහෙදි අපි Peter ගෙ wine store එකටත් ගියා. මගේ බෑග් එකත් උස්සගෙන ගියා මට නිදහසේ යන්න කියලා. එහේ ඇවිදලා ආපහු Peter ගෙ ගෙදරට ගිහින් මගේ බෑග් එකත් අරන් ආපහු Peter මාව station එකට ඇරලුවා. රෑ වෙන නිසා මං ආපහු වලට ආවා. 

(After that we went to the Gamla old town. In there, peter has a wine store in a old store. We had some delicious buns at the wine store. Then we walked in the town. All the time Peter was carrying my heavy bag to letting me go freely like a father 💓)

19, 20 මම Office වැඩ. 20,  රෑ විදුමිණි එක්ක රෑ Uppsala City එකට ගියා ඇවිදින්න. 21 වෙනිදා මම අනස්ලගෙ ගෙදර ගියා. මුළු දවසම එහේ.  (On 19th and 20th I worked from Rohan's apartment. On 20th I and Vidumini went to the Uppsala town for a walk. and 21st I visited my friend Anas home and spent whole day with his family)

22 වෙනිදා, ආයෙත් Stockholm  වල Skansen zoo එක බලන්න ගියා. ජොහානාගෙ යාළුවෙක් එහේ වැඩ කරන නිසා මට free ටිකට් එකක් හම්බුනා. (On 22nd I visited Skansen zoo. I got a free ticket from Johanna's friend(Björn Underdal) who is working at the zoo.)

ඊළගට එක Museum of Natural History බලන්න ගියා. එහේ  ලගෙ පොසිල තියෙන කොටස හරිම ලස්සනයි. වෙන දේවල් වලට වඩා සෑහෙන්න වටිනවා ඒ කොටස.  (In the evening, I visited Natural history museum which is recommended by Johanna. The most interesting part was dinosaur fossil section since I haven't seen them in Sri Lanka)

23 වෙනිදා, එදා උදේම, උදේම කිව්වාට 11 ට විතර විදුමිණි එක්ක Uppsala town එකට ගියා. යන්නම පැයක් විතර ගියා මග දිගට photo  ගහ ගහ ගියපු නිසා. (on 23rd morning, I and Vidumini went to Uppsala town. We took almost an hour to go there because we were capturing photos along the road. Then we visited, famous Uppsala cathedral and Uppsala university building)

සීතලට ඇඟිලි හිරිවැටිලා ගල් වෙන්න කිට්ටු වෙද්දි යන්තන් ඇතුළට පැන ගත්තා. (Before freezing our fingers, we jumped into the church)

24 වෙනිදා, Johanna ගෙ අම්මට covid හැදිලා නිසා  Johanna ගෙ ගෙදර යන්න බැරි වුණා. ඒ වෙනුවට,  Johanna නැවතිලා ඉන්න තැන යාළුවගෙ ගෙදර dinner  එකට එන්න කිව්වා. 24 හවස 1.30 ට විතර එහේට ගියා. වැඩේ කියන්නෙ අනස් ලගෙ ගෙදර තියෙන Halt එකේමයි එයා ඉන්නෙත්. බැස්සම මාව එක්ක යන්න Johanna ආව.  වත්තක තියෙන පොඩි ගෙදරක්. හිම වැටිලා හරිම ලස්සනයි. ඉතින් ඒ ගෙදර අම්මගෙන් හොඳ උණුසුම් පිළිගැනීමක් ලැබුණා. ඒ ගෙදර ඔක්කොම දුවල පුතාල එකතු වෙලා. මට දැනුණෙම මම, movie එකක් ඇතුලෙ ඉන්නවා වගේ. 

(On 24th, Though I and Johanna planned to go to her parent's house to celebrate Christmas, we couldn't go there because Johanna's mother tested Covid. Therefore she invited me to celebrate the Christmas eve with her friend's(Johannes Redin) family where she was staying in uppsala. Coincidently, Anas's house also vey close to her cabin. The environment was very beautiful with snow. Johanna came and picked me from the bus station. I received a warm welcome from all the people who were at the house. I felt like I am in a movie.)

මුලින්ම අපි ලයිම් කේක් කාලා තේ බිව්වා. ඊට පස්සේ එකම එකතු වෙලා Donald duck cartoon එක බැලුවා. ඒක එහේ නත්තල් සම්ප්‍රදායක් ලු. හැම නත්තල් දවසෙම හවස 3ට එකම  cartoon  එක යනවලු. හැම ගෙදරම අය ඒක බලනවාලු. හැමෝම සාලෙට එකතු වෙලා, ගිනි උදුනත් පත්තු කරලා Tv එක බලන් ඉද්දි හරිම ආසයි. 

(First we ate lime cake and had tea. Next we watched the Donald duck cartoon. As I heard, it is a Swedish tradition. The same cartoon is shown in every Christmas day at 3 pm. People in every house are watching it. It is very interesting to see when everyone gathers in the living room, lights the fireplace and watches TV. In every Christmas eve, they are watching the same cartoon every year with all family members. It was a very interesting to watch it with all family members with the heat coming from the fireplace. That's a very warm evening with full of love.)

ඊට පස්සෙ නත්තල් ගහ යට තිබ්බ තෑගි ටික බෙදන්න ගත්තා. එතන ගෙනල්ල තියෙන තෑගි කාගෙන්ද කාටද කියලා බෙදනවා. බෙදලා ඉවර වුණාට පස්සෙ, තෑගි කඩල බලල හැමෝම සතුටු වුණා. මටත් තෑග්ගක් හම්බ වුණා. (Next, the gifts under the Christmas tree were distributed by the youngest one. After the distribution was over, everyone was happy to see their gifts. I also got a gift from the lady(Kerry Redin) of the house. The living room was full of happiness.)

ඊට පස්ස රෑ කෑම. හැමෝම පිගානක් අරගෙන කුස්සියට ගිහින් කෑම බෙදාගෙන කෑම මේසෙන් ඇවිත් වාඩි වෙලා කන්න පටන් ගත්තා. Johanna තිබ්බ කෑම එකින් එක විස්තර කරලා මට බෙදාගන්න උදව් කරා. ඒ ගෙදර හිටපු මාමල ගොඩක් ලංකාවෙ විස්තර ලෝකෙ විස්තර මාත් එක්ක කතා කරා. රෑ කෑමෙන් පස්සෙ රසම රස පුඩිමක් එක්ක  Raspberry. (Then the dinner was served. Everyone took a plate and went to the kitchen, got the food, came to the table and sat down to eat. Johanna explained all the dishes one by one to me. Two uncles in that house discussed many things about Sri Lanka and the world with me. At the end, there was a delicious pudding with Raspberry as desserts.)

මන් රෑ ආපහු එන්න ලේස්ති වෙන්න යද්දි Johanna ගෙ යාළුව කියනවා යන්න ඕනෙ වෙලාව කියන්න, ඔයාව නවතින තැනට ඇරලවල එන්නම් කියලා.  මන් කිව්ව නෑ මන් බස් එකේ යන්නම් කියලා.  Johanna ඒකත් plan  කරලා. Johanna කිව්වාලු රෑවුනොත් මාව ගෙදර ගිහින් දාන්න කියලා. Johanna හරිම ස්වීට්. මාව බස් එකට දාන්න  Johanna ගෙ යාළුවයි  Johanna යි දෙන්නම ආව. ඒ දෙන්නා අවුරුදු 20 ක් විතර අදුරනවලු. ගොඩක් පොඩි කාලෙ ඉදන්ම යාළුවො. එදා රෑ 10 ට විතර නවතින තැනට ආවා සීතලේ ගැහි ගැහි. 

(When I was getting ready to come back at night, Johanna's friend told me he would drive me to my apartment when I need. I gently refused it and told him I can take the bus. Johanna has planned my travelling as well 💗. She has asked his friend to drop me to my apartment just in case. I remembered my friend Kalpi who passed away on last year. She also very caring like Johanna. Johanna is very sweet. Both Johanna's friend(Johannes) and Johanna walked with me to the bus stop. They have been friends for about 20 years since childhood. At around 10 o'clock that night, I came back to my apartment after a lovely evening. It was a fantastic evening surrounded by good friends. The Johannes's family was very kind to invite me even they don't know me.)

25 වෙනිදා. නැගිටින කොටත් 11 විතර වෙලා. එදා පීටර් ගෙ ගෙදර Dinner. මම හිටියේ ටිකක් කලින් ගිහින් Stockholm old town එකට යන්න.  ඒ වුණාට මගේ කම්මැලි නැති කම නිසා,  Old town එකට යද්දි කලුවර වැටිලා හවස 3.30 වගේ වුණාට. (On the 25th. It was already around 11 am when I woke up. Peter invited me to another dinner on that day. I was thinking to leave early and go to Stockholm old town for a visit and buy some stuffed animals. However, due to my lack of boredom, it was almost 3:30 pm when I reached the old town.)

එහේ කඩේකට ගිහින් Rain deer කෙනෙක් ගත්තා. ඒ කඩේ Nepal එක්කෙනෙක්ගෙ. ලංකාවෙ කෙනෙක් ආවමලු ඒ කඩේට. මං කිව්වා සමහර විට මෙහේ ඉන්න ලංකාවෙ අය මෙවා ගන්න එන්නෙ නැතුව ඇති මං නිවාඩුවට ආපු නිසා කියලා. ඒකත් හරිම සතුටු හමු වීමක්. 

(I went to a shop at old town and bought a rain deer. That shop belongs to a Nepali. He told me I am his first customer who came from Sri Lanka. I said that maybe the Sri Lankans who live here are not coming to buy stuff, but I came from Netherlands for a vacation. It was also a nice meeting.)

මං ආයෙත් එකට නැගලා පීටර්ගෙ ගෙදර ගියා.  Anika ගේ ගෙදර අය ඔක්කොම ඇවිත්. හැමෝම මාව ආදරෙන් පිළිගත්තා. පීටර් කෑම හදන විදිහත් මම බලන් හිටියා. හැමෝම කෑම බෙදාගෙන ඇවිත්, කෑම මේසෙන් වාඩි වෙලා කෑවා. කන ගමන් ආගිය විස්තර කතා කරා. ගොඩක් හැබැයි වලින් තමයි. අතරින් පතර මට translate කරනවා Anika  හරි Sarah හරි. Dessert අරගෙන ටික වෙලාවකින් මම එන්න පිටත් වුණා, රෑ වෙන්න කලින් ආයෙ  එන්න ඕනෙ නිසා. 10 විතර වෙද්දි ආපහු apartment එකට ආවා.

(Then I went to Peter's house. All Anika's family members were there including her mother. Everyone welcomed me with love. I was also watching Peter's cooking. Everyone shared the food and sat at the dining table. They talked in Swedish mostly. Anika or Sarah translated them for me. They were super nice to invite me into their family occasion. I’m really grateful for the amazing dinner. All the foods were very delicious. At the end, Anika gave me a pack of biscuits which made by her. I came back to the apartment around 10 o'clock.)

26 වෙනිදා. අද නම් මුකුත් විශේෂ වැඩක් දාගත්තෙ නෑ. Johanna ගෙ අම්මටයි තාත්තටයි මොනවා හරි ගන්න ඕනෙ කියලා හිතුවා.  Johanna හවස එන්නම් කිව්වා bye  කියන්න. මං තෑගිත් අරගෙන station එකට වෙලා වාඩි වෙලා හිටියා.එයා ආවම ඊට පස්සෙ අපි දෙන්න කතා කර කර town එකේ රවුමක් දැම්මා. සෑහෙන්න වල් පල් කතා කරා. Johanna මට තෑගිත් අරන් දුන්නා. මාව බස් එක ගාවටම ගෙනත් දාලා, හෙට Airport එකට යන හැටිත් විස්තර කරා.(On the 26th. I didn't do anything special. I wanted to buy something to Johanna's mom and dad. Johanna said she will come in the evening to say bye. I took gifts and sat at the station. Once she came, we walked in the town and talked about many things. Johanna also bought me gifts. She dropped me to the bus station and explained how to go to the airport tomorrow. She is a nice person indeed.)

ස්වීඩන් කියමනක් තියෙනවා ලු අවාසනාවෙ වාසනාව (Tur i oturen "Luck in the unlucky") කියලා. Johanna කියනව මට වුණේ ඒක කියලා. මොකද රොහාන් අයියා නැති වුණා කියලා අඩුවක් වුණේ නෑ. Johanna හිටියා නෙ හයියට. ඇත්තටම එයා හොඳම හොඳ යාළුවෙක්. එයා ලංකාවට ආපු වෙලාවෙ මම එයත් එක්ක හැමදේටම හිටියා වගේ එයත් මාත් එක්ක හැමදේකදිම හිටියා. කළ ගුණ සලකණ එක හොඳ මිත්‍රයෙක්ගෙ ලක්ෂණයක්. ඒ වෙලාවෙ එයාව බලාගද්දි මම හිතුවේ නෑ මට මෙහෙම අවස්ථාවක් එයි කියලා. අපි කරන හොඳ වැඩ කොහේ දි හරි අපිට පිහිට වෙනවා. ඉතින් මං Johanna ට සමු දීලා ආයෙ නැවතිලා ඉන්න තැනට ආවා. ලසල් කතා කරල කියපු තැන් වල තමයි ඇවිද්දෙ. එහේ එන්න කිව්වත් යන්න බැරි වුණා. ඊළග පාර එහේ යනවා.

(There is a Swedish saying called Tur i oturen "Luck in the unlucky ". Johanna says that's what happened to me.  Though Rohan was not there,  I spent my holidays very well. Johanna was there with me all the time. She is really a best friend. When she visited Sri Lanka, I was with her for everything, so now she is with me for everything. Acknowledging good deeds is a characteristic of a good friend. When I was taking care of her at that time, I did not expect I would need her help in tis way. The good work we do will help us somewhere. So, I said goodbye to Johanna and came back to the place where I stayed for one more night in Uppsala.)

ඊළග දවසෙ, මම ආපහු වලට ආවා. එනකන්ම අනසුයි, රොහාන් අයියයි, ජොහානායි හැම වෙලේම දදා ඇහුවා ගියාද කියලා. ඉතින් ගොඩාක් අයට ස්තූතිවන්ත වෙන්න මම ස්වීඩන් ගිහින් හිම බලලා ආවා. (Next day(27th), I came back to Netherlands safely. Till I come to my apartment, Anas, Johanna and Rohan kept in touch with me. So, thanks to so many people, I went to Sweden and touched SNOW 😀.
